Screeding

Stage 4

What is standard screeding?

Screeding is the application of a levelled layer of screed mix (Sand and Cement) to a floor or other surface. When mixed correctly, screed will leave the floor smooth and level. After screeding is complete, customers choose a floor finish to be laid.

sand and cement screeds

sand and cement fibre reinforced screeds (traditional screeds) that are perfect for use in hospitals, offices and other industry. Installed by our screeding contractor they can offer excellent solutions with drying times and programme. We offer customers a fully tailored solution designed to meet your exact requirements.

liquid screed

We use anhydrite/gyvlon or the new cementitious liquid flowing screeds like cemfloor or belitex. These can be installed 10-20x quicker than conventional screed. We install in excess of 1000m2/day making these types of liquid screeds excellent for a busy site or tight time constraints.

Liquid screed is normally accessible to foot traffic within 24 hours after installation. There is a minimal need for movement joints, calcium sulphate screed does not harbour bacteria and works incredibly well with underfloor heating.

levelling compound / latex

we offer all screed repairs, thin screed sections, screed refurbishment and floor levelling in Bristol and nationwide. Levelling Compounds or Latex can be used in cases where a floor only needs a very thin skim to bring it back to a level, smooth surface ready to receive flooring. The majority of these products allow a very quick turnaround with very little disruption to the working or surrounding areas.

Depending on the size of the area in question and the depth required, these products can be pumped in or mixed and laid by hand. We can incorporate damp proofing even with build ups as thin as 3mm thick by using Epoxy Resin DPM’s.

Lightweight Screed

This system is designed to allow the floor to breathe. lime based floor screeds provide major benefits to older, traditionally built buildings when used as an alternative to DPM, modern insulation and cement based screed or concrete floors. By using Lime as the binder in a floor slab and screed the floor is permeable allowing water vapour to pass which prevents the build-up of moisture and subsequent movement of salt laden water from travelling to the lower parts of the adjacent walls

Liquid and flowing screeds

liquid and flow screeding. Our fast, precise and highly efficient method of floor screeding is premixed and ready for immediate application. The screed mixture will dry within 24 - 48 hours and will be ready for foot traffic.

All of our screeding is suitiable for underfloor heating. We work with a number of architects, local authorities and residents. No matter the project, small or large, simple or complex we have the knowledge and the highest quality screeding products to complete your project promtly and effectivley.

Fast drying screeds

Fast drying screed is suitable for all common floor finishes and allow earlier use of floor space. Fast drying screed can be ready for overlaying in as little as 24 hours. There are products that can receive ceramic or stone tiles after just 4 hours. Relying on an aluminium based cement to accelerate the hardening process. There are many products that can achieve a 7 days drying time equivalent to the formidable isocrete k-screed. Our particular favorites are tekscreed and mapeo topcem.

Damp proof membrane and liquid DPM

Specially formulated for use as both a liquid damp proof membrane or vapour control membrane for use in new builds and refurbishment projects. When used as a primer and cured it will accept most adhesives, coating and screed. DPM'S can be used as a 2 part system, witch would enable us to take screed level down to only 15mm in depth.

Heritage & lightweight screeds

Limecrete Screeds are a Specialist Screed used in Heritage or Listed Buildings. The standard construction for the floor build up would be a Geotextile membrane, followed by a recycled Foam Glass insulation which has been well compacted. The end user would then have the option to have Underfloor Heating fitted followed by the Limecrete Screed. This system is specifically designed to allow the floor to breathe as it always would have.

Levellers / levelling compound / latex

Depending on the size of the area in question and the depth required, these products can be pumped in or mixed and laid by hand. we can also incorporate damp proofing even with build ups as thin as 3mm thick by using Epoxy Resin DPM’s. These types of screed systems are very fast to install, we can cover large areas per day, they leave the surface ready to receive all manner of floor coverings and they dry very quickly. They can be used as wearing surfaces in places such as warehouses and offices if required. They are so hard they can even be polished!

Bonded screeds

Bonded screed is fully bonded to the prepared concrete sub-base using a specialist bonding agent or primer. Most screeds of this type are laid at a thickness of between 25mm and 40mm, but every project will have different requirements.

unbounded screeds

Unbounded screed are laid onto a damp proof membrane or polythene sheeting, which separates the final layer of screed from the the concrete base substrate. Most screeds of this type are laid at a thickness of at least 50mm, each project will have different requirements.

Floating screeds

Floating screed is laid on to a layer of thermal insulation, which is usually on top of a damp proof membrane that separates the existing concrete sub-base. The main benefit of a floating screed is the thermal efficiency it provides.

Screed testing and screed surveys

we are fully qualified and trained to undertake all aspects of screed testing and screed surveys in Bristol and Somerset. Our team have undertaken hundreds of projects including floor preparation, screed repairs, screed testing / reports and insulation.

We are equipped to thoroughly test substrates for moisture content, surface regulation and level. We can undertake the BRE screed test or more commonly known “Drop Hammer” to determine whether your the screed you have is fit for purpose. We use both the Tramex moisture meter and also the calcium carbide bomb test to test floors for moisture.

We have state of the art surveying equipment to determine what condition with regards to level, your existing floors are in. We carry out level surveys to enable us to more accurately quote as well as ensuring we are offering the right system. LM FLOORING SOLUTIONS can carry out all floor preparation from grinding existing slabs to liquid damp proof membranes and insulation.
